oooh.. I guess I should do this now..
I'm doing my part and playing along.

I will send a homecrafted gift to the first five people who leave a comment here on my LJ. The gift could be anything, but you will receive it within 365 days. The only catch is that you must make the same pledge to five others via your own LJ.

I might even take requests, who knows.

    Hello boys and girls.

I have just signed up for the AIDS walk here in Rochester, NY. It is taking place this weekend, and I am hoping to bring in some money. I was going to be out of town for the weekend, but now it turns out I will be in town and able to walk it!

One of my missions as Miss Rochester this year was to bring in more volunteers into AIDS Rochester, an organization I volunteer for quite a lot! I have been very successful at that, so my next plan is to be able to help out with this huge fundraiser.

To contribute a pledge on my name, you can go to the following link and follow their directions, it's easy, and it's online, PLUS I never have to handle the money myself!

    http://www.firstgiving.com/SamanthaVega

Please give as little or as much as you would like, as every dollar counts!
Thank you for all your attention and donations, let's keep the love running around!

    http://www.clubmuthers.com/pdq.html

    every vote counts!!!!

This week's challenge was very cute. We were emptying the closet, so
to speak. We had to create an entire outfit out of OLD Empty Closet
newspapers. I decided to go with a swimsuit/showgirl style outfit to
show some skin. My outfit was entirely made of newspaper and tape,
and definitely tailored to fit my voluptous (read: fat) shape.

I hope you are finding our little competition very amusing, I am
having a blast with it. Plus if I win, I will have extra money to
put to good use toward the pageants I am entering this year.

    Cheers,

    Vega!

This past Sunday's challenge was given to us partially ahead of time. We were instructed to go to the GoodWill Fashion Store (thrift store) and spend a maximum of 10 dollars and bring the outfit -with tags AND receipt for the sunday show. AND it had to be done all in one purchase.

My experience with this challenge was awesome, as soon as I walked in the door at GoodWill in Henrietta, I knew exactly where I was going to start because right past the counter as you come in was the accessories wall, and my direction for my outfit was found: A black and pink leather PURSE with the letter "S" in baby pink!!!!!! I knew I had to had that, and built the rest of my outfit around it, so I did! I found a pink sil scarf that matched perfectly. A nice silk blouse from Victoria Secretions with hearts all over it, and lots of pink on it. A crepe satin pencil skirt with a rhinestone edge, and the next piece of resistance: a LONG black blazer -a la Paula Abdul 1980s- I also accessorized the whole ensemble with sunglasses with a pink edge, and a stuffed "dog" that lived peeking out of the purse when runway time came. Everything I bought was $.99 (blue tag items) except for the purse that was $2.99. So it was a great purchase!

Let's just say that the whole look was Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, or as I called myself for the night: Hell Goods, Illegally Blonde Immigrant. My first shot from the runway show is my favorite -when everything was stil together. THe other contestants had some good finds also:
Annie Rexic had a jacket with a grey skirt. When she had it all on, it kind of reminded me of Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music.
Kasha Davis surprised us by going a little low key, since she basically LIVES at the GoodWill. Her outfit was cute, but the piece that I thought made it cute -the belt- was not a purchase from GoodWill!!!
Samantha Sulays outfit was really cute. She bought a matching skirt and jacket in leopard print. Unfortunately, the shirt that she wore under it was also NOT a purchase from GWF. Neither were the shoes, which really brought the outfit together!
Poison Waters found a nice rich Blue velveteen dress with a sheer treatment in the chest. It fit her very nicely, and she was really hapy with it.

There is more to this challenge, but I'll post the rest to my personal LJ. Help me win this challenge too!!!

www.clubmuthers.com/pdq.html place your vote for Samantha Vega!

Project DragQueen Round 3, x-posted everywhere.
    Hello Gurlz, Boyz and Fans,

Just one reminder that there today and tomorrow are the last chances to vote for the Round 3 of Project Drag queen. GO to the page and vote for ME, Samantha Vega!!!!!

    http://www.clubmuthers.com/pdq.html

The challenge this week was to make an outfit out of two yards of fabric that we were given that night -all of us had the same fabric- and two boxes of safety pins.

I decided to go a little dressy and made a gown that had see thru panels in swirl shapes, thru which you could see the safety pins as addornments of the dress, rather than holding it together. I was inspired by one of the creations on the evening gown competition of the Miss Venezuela Pageant that just aired last sunday. My dress also featured a little cape that went off one shoulder, and braided straps that went accross the open back of the dress.

Once again, thank you for your vote. Last week I didn't win, but I was 2nd -apparently I lost by ONE vote!-

    Love, always..

    shameless plug, vote for me!!!!
Hello Boyz and Gurlz, and everything in between.

Our Sunday night drag show at Club Muthers is getting a facelift. We decided to do our own take on Project Runway, and are doing now Project Drag Queen. This past Sunday -DURING the Black Party- we had our first challenge: From trash to treasure, which involved using "garbage" to create outfitsto be worn on the same night.

Not only am I here to promote our show, but also because I need your votes tokeep me "IN", because as you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you are out.

To vote, go to http://www.clubmuthers.com and click on the Project Dragqueen page. Look at the outfits and then vote for ME, Samantha Vega, or if you are so compelled, vote for your favorite outfit -even if it's not me. To Vote for me, you have to click on my name on the group picture. Your vote is much appreciated!!!!

Now, for more details about the garment. We were all handed 4 clear garbage bags, and the liberty to use anything else that might be considered "trash". I will go as far as to say that I was the only one who used anything else beyond the duct tape and garbage bag trash items. My outfit was made of garbage bags, duct tape and a case of Labbatt's Blue Light Beer! My skirt included a pocket in which you could carry your beer -or makeup, or money. All the pieces were separatesthe top was entirely garbage bags and duct tape, with a labbats blue light trim. The Jacket was also made with garbage bags, and the cuffz on the sleeves were also made from the beer box. The choker and earrings were made from cardboard -beer case again- and from broken CD cases.

THe outfit was further accesorized by embellishing my silver shoes with beer labels making the outfit very matchy-matchy, THank you Mean-a Garcia for the comment.

Anyway, go to the site and vote for me: Samantha Vega.

    Cheers,

    Sam!

I think I am shedding a tear.. oh wait.. no, it's glitter
There has been lots going on lately. The shows are going well, though sometimes I feel like I am performing too much. It makes me think back to the days when I went out to have fun, rather than to work. The shows are a lot of fun still, but there is soooooo much to prepare for, and so many people to deal with. One of these days I'll get a life.

On the other hand, I have been having a great time lately. About a month ago, while I was working at the door at Muthers, I was being my usual flirt whore, and was flirting with a NEW guy who came in. Now I flirt with everybody, especially the regulars, but there was something about this new guy that caught my attention. Now, I am well known for remembering random useless information out of nowhere. Like I remembered this guy's birth date -and even other weird info that I just got from the first 10 seconds talking/meeting him; but I couldnt remember his name. Actually, I could remember his name, but it was the wrong one. That was a great first impression to make. Anyway, we chatted randomly throughout the night, since I am usually stuck at the door. However random, we managed to make a good connection and have been hanging out since.

It has been quite a challenge for me to maintain something with "the boy" as my friends call him now. I am not sure what kind of relationship we do have, as I do like him a lot, and he has said something along those lines to me as well. He refers to me as "glitter boy", because my bedroom is practically a glitter wharehouse. My bedroom is really not a bedroom, but a large sewing room with a bed in it and my minimal boy apparel. OK, it is a bedroom, but that's where I do all my sewing, which has managed to take over my space.

so.. that was a long random thought. Back to the boy: we have hung out a great deal of time together, and we are quite different people, with very different interests and our very own lives. This is the part that is refreshing. We both have our very own things that we like to do in our spare time. What I enjoy about this is that we dont rely on each other for taking care of "down" time or bored time. We both have our space and time. It's awesome.

I also know that he is graduating soon, and his plans do not include staying in Rochester. I am glad that we can enjoy our time together, and perhaps a wonderful friendship will develop out of it. I am grateful to have met him. Especially with all the drama that Michael has been causing lately. It seems that I have managed to go on with my life, but yet he seems to want to NOT let go and make my life hell. That's it for now. I have LOTS more to tell, but I'll save that for another entry. This one was random and scattered enough.

    The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to obedience and warmth.

In love, you feel the most alive when everything is uncertain, one moment heaven... the next moment hell.

You'd like to your lover to think you are flexible and ready for anything!

You would be forced to break up with someone who was insecure and in constant need of reassurance.

Your ideal relationship is comforting. You crave a relationship where you always feel warmth and love.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something that will confine you. You are afraid of marriage.

In this moment, you think of love as something you can get or discard anytime. You're feeling self centered.

First real post in a LONG LONG LONG time
So yeah, I havent posted anything in a very long time, but that's possibly because I am a very private person generally, however, I have decided that perhaps it's time I post something of substance -or at least just somewhat LJ worthy- I think I might post things as they coe to myhead, probably most recent first.

-As many of you know, I volunteer at AIDS Rochester quite a bit (this week alone, I volunteered 25 hours, between doing HIV testing, and outreach, and reception desk, and the daily bread kitchen). The volunteer coordinator, Marcia, just came to talk to me recently about the organization holding their Annual Meeting/luncheon in which they recognize outstanding volunteers, and apparently I was nominated by 12 staff members as Volunteer of the year. I am pretty excited about this, especially because I have such a great time when I am here volunteering, and I love my "co-workers" and have gotten to know some very special people in general. It is my goal to actually recruit at least ONE NEW volunteer every month to come work with me in any of the areas. SO if youare reading this, and would like to volunteer, EVER, with AIDS Rochester, just email me, and we can chat about it.

-The shows at Muthers are going great. Sometimes I have a great weekend, and sometimes I dont. I have been performing quite a bit lately (this weekend alone I perform thursday, friday, saturday, and sunday) which makes it real hard sometimes, since I have to pick music for all those shows, and keep on making new outfits. As always, I have a great time, and very happyy to meet new people, especially those cute college boys that keep wanting to make out with me. LOL. -shudder- ughh, drag sexinesss yuck!

-Speaking of drag, this past weekend I did a Drag show at SUNY Fredonia, and I had the best time ever. I got to visit a recent good friend of mine, Chris CPUg -AKA The little mermaid-, but also perform with people I usually dont get a chance to perform with. When they called me up, they said to bring an additional two performers from Rochester, and I didnt think twice about it: Frankie Starr and Pandora Boxx.
Frankie is a dear friend of mine, and we have been working together for years now, and it totally helps that we co-host the thursday night show at Muthers, but we truly are Lina and Malina -from MAD TV- we are some truly fucked up bitches! Pandora, I just had to invite, because I admire her talent, and I know she is a blast to hang out with, plus I knew the college crowd would love her as much as I do. We had a wonderful time. After the college show was over, Pandora and Frankie decided to go to Club Marcellas in Buffalo, but I was too tired to go out in drag. Instead, I went to our hotel room, changed my clothes and went out with the college kids to the local dive, some straight bar called Sunny's, I think.
I had an AMAZING TIME at this straight bar, I danced my ass off -I never dance anymore when I go out just for fun- and was drinking quite heavily too (more on the drinking in a sec) Needless to say, I had a fantastic time with an amazing group of people, I hoping for a repeat sometime soon.

-DRINKING: hehehe.. I know people never have thought of me as a heavy drinker, and that's because I am not. I dont like to drink a lot, and I certainly dont like to get drunk at ALL. Recently, in light of me working at the bar five nights a week, I decided to stop drinking altogether, and allow myself ONE alcoholic beverage a week. This has worked out sooo well in so many different ways. For starters: since I stopped drinking regularly I have lost about 16-18 pounds. I am very happy about that, since I was feeling like a huge fatso. Now I just have to work hard on keeping that weight off, and maybe losing an additional 10 pounds. This will be a hard task, being that winter is getting close, and that my Volleyball season is OVER :-(

Another plus side of the no drinking thing, is that ihave found myself to have A LOT more energy when I go out and when I am at work. Who knew that stopping such mild habits would actually have such great impact!

-Many of you know that I recently moved to a new place. I am no longer on Pearl St. Due to reasons that are heavily personal, I felt that Michael and I could not live together anymore. While things have gotten a lot more difficult in the past month, and not just because of the move, i think I am feeling happier overall, and enjoying my new living arrangements.

-This weekend I will be starting my rehearsals for the Miss Gay Rochester Pageant, to take place on nov. 13. I am really excited about it, because it is a lot of fun to do the pageant, and just preparing for it, as stressful as it may seem. The downside of doing a pageant is that it costs a lot money, so if you want to make a little donation, just email me at MissVega@rochester.rr.com and I'll give you the details. ANY ammount is greatly apprecciated as I will be spending hundreds of dollars.

hrmm.. well, enough of this stuff, I think this has totally made up for me not doing a areal entry EVER. I might get inspired and do a monthly post with updates.

    Cheers,

    Sam!
